Salecology's inductive reasoning test measures abilities that are important in solving problems. They may also be referred to as abstract reasoning tests or diagrammatic style tests. These tests measure the ability to work flexibly with unfamiliar information and find solutions.

This nonverbal mental ability test measures the ability to solve problems from graphical data. It measures observation skills, clear thinking ability, intellectual capacity and intellectual efficiency.

Specifically it measures the ability to

  1. formulate new concepts when faced with novel information,
  2. extract meaning out of confusion or ambiguity and
  3. think clearly about complex situations and events

The score indicates potential for success in positions that typically require clear and accurate thinking, problem identification and evaluation of tentative solutions for consistency with all available information.

The nonverbal aspect of this test minimizes the impact of language skills on performance on the assessment.
